Kiriwaneliya Mini Hydropower Project which is developed by Country Energy Pvt Ltd is located in Kiriwaneliya village in Nuwara Eliya district of the central province, Sri Lanka. The purpose of the Project is to utilize the water resources of Maskeli Oya to generate electricity, which will be delivered to Ceylon Electricity Board´s Power Grid. The Project is a run of-river hydro power with a total installed capacity of 4.65MW. The main access to the project site is from A7 road. The powerhouse site can be reached from the Norton-Bridge-Makeliya main road. The weir site can be reached from a footpath to Laxapana fall (about 3 km) whereas the powerhouse site can be approached from the Gansabha road starting near the control valve house of the Laxapana hydroelectric project.
