Empowering Green

Continuing our stance as an environmentally responsible corporate entity, we have launched the project 'Empowering Green,' a substantial tree planting initiative with the absolute vision of promoting silviculture in rural areas including public places such as school premises, roads, public degraded lands etc.

Our purpose of the project is to contribute to:

  • conserve soil and water resources in Sri Lanka
  • promote sustainable green ecosystem for future generations
  • effectively utilize degraded lands in Sri Lanka

'Empowering Green’ has the ultimate target of growing 1,000,000 trees over the island. Under this green project, we have contributed to plant over 173,186 plants during the first phase of ‘Empowering Green':

‘Empowering Green’ Kickoff Ceremony was held on 21st March 2016 at Erathna Maha Vidyalaya with Environmental Pioneer Brigades and staff of the school. The event was graced with the presence of several governmental officials including the Kuruwita Divisional Secretary, Officer in Charge of Kuruwita Police Department, and Officials of the Forest Department.

As to date, several phases of the ‘Empowering Green’ program has been implemented around the island in collaboration with several state institutions including the Forest Department, Central Environment Authority, Wild Life Department, Divisional Secretariats, Pradeshiya Sabha, and Police Department. Empowering the youth and future while preserving the green, ‘Empowering Green’ has been able to link up with many schools in Ratnapura district, Hatton district, and Monaragala district.

Acknowledging that what we preserve is what will protect our future, we will continue to empower our green for our environment sustainability.
